The Junkie dies

While the title of the post may make you wonder what I am upto again on this tech website, fear not.

They say drugs are bad. But this junkie stopped giving us the dope and hence has died a sudden death.

BTJunkie was one the most popular BitTorrent search engine having millions of torrents indexed. With it’s death comes a shock to the torrent community which has been fighting to stay alive (and away from the US) due to a host of legal issues.

BTJunkie website owner decided to call it quits after it became clear that the US has enough power to put anyone behind the bars… anywhere!

Is this the beginning of the end of rampant file sharing (and to a large extent piracy issues)? While the music/movie/software industries may be shouting hoorays , we need to give some serious thought to what level of arm twisting is fair on the part of any government. Will instilling fear amongst third party hosting/indexing sites work in the long run is left to be seen.

if the open file sharing ends,it will create a big problem for all of us,specially the copyrigted material ..
